Lancaster Museum & Public Art Foundation Announces New Essay Scholarship for High School Juniors


Lancaster, CA. July 27, 2015 – The Lancaster Museum & Public Art Foundation (LMPAF), the fundraising arm for Lancaster’s Museum of Art & History (MOAH), proudly presents a new essay scholarship for high school juniors and seniors. Students are invited to submit essays expressing their thoughts on “How art and technology will impact the future of the Antelope Valley.”

Requirements: Submissions must be original works of between 550 and 650 words. Student authors must be high school juniors or seniors that reside in the Antelope Valley. Qualified submissions will be judged on writing skills, critical thinking and the overall creativity of the essay.

Award: The awardee will receive a $500 cash award and a tour of ABC 7 Los Angeles studios.

Deadline: Submissions must be received by 6:00 p.m. on October 1, 2015 to qualify. Entries can be mailed or hand delivered to LMPAF c/o City of Lancaster, 44933 Fern Avenue, Lancaster, CA 93534.

The selected scholarship recipient will be notified by October 10, 2015. A public announcement of the award will be made at the Annual MOAH Gala, at which the winner and their parents will be honored.

The Lancaster Museum and Public Art Foundation (LMPAF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to raise funds to enhance collections, exhibitions, programs and facilities at the City of Lancaster’s museums and to fundraise and advise for the Public Art program of the City of Lancaster. The Foundation has been instrumental in underwriting Museum exhibits, sustaining MOAH's award-winning children’s " trunk" program that reaches approximately 8,000 children annually, supporting the preservation of over 10,000 items in the permanent collection as well as expanding community outreach programming at MOAH, MOAH:CEDAR, the Western Hotel Museum and via MOAH's VanGo!, mobile art and history van.
